  • Welcome

I'm so happy you are here! My name is Stacie Kemp, I'm an Iowa girl who married and uprooted myself and business to Chicago, IL. I love family, friends, food, fashion and capturing life's moments involving all of the above!

My love affair with photography began in college. Do you know that magical feeling you get when you wake up Christmas morning? That's the feeling I get every time I photograph, every time I capture the essence of someone's personality, the love between couples and families, the awe and wonder of a child. I'm passionate about my art and about capturing every fun, exciting, silly, fashionable, quiet, romantic and crazy moment of life.

If you'd like to schedule a session, I'd love to hear from you! I strive to make every session unique and special to you. Please contact me at 115,116,97,99,105,101,107,101,109,112,112,104,111,116,111,103,114,97,112,104,121,64,103,109,97,105,108,46,99,111,109,46.moc.liamg@yhpargotohppmekeicats

Voropaeva Family Portraits; Iowa City and Chicago Family Portrait Photographer

The Voropaeva family is special to me for a few reasons. First, I work with their awesome mother, second, I’ve been fortunate enough to be taking their family portraits since their youngest was a toddler and third, they have ALWAYS been the kindest, sweetest, most warming and welcoming family. Not to mention fun too! I remember one of the first times I went to take portraits at their home, I left feeling like a family friend and I think that’s just one of the coolest things ever. I truly hope we have a lot more of these sessions in years to come!

For this session, we decided to meet at Coe College and despite the major storm that was about to hit at any moment and extremely HIGH humidity, we got some great portraits! At the end of the session we moved over to the tennis courts and I got to capture some pretty sweet tennis skills. Makes me wish I played tennis…almost!

Roethler Family

The Roethler’s were one of the first families I photographed when I was just starting my photography business. Back then, their oldest was just a baby and I can HARDLY believe how much has changed since then!! It’s been amazing to document their family over the past several years and how they’ve grown. When I moved to Chicago I thought it might be the end to our fun photo sessions but I was SO excited when they asked me to take this session on our trip back to Iowa a few weeks ago.

One thing that really stuck out to me about this particular session was the sisterly love these two girls share. During the middle of our session, the girls spontaneously started chasing each other around with fits of giggles and it was just about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen! You can tell there is just a lot of love to go around in this family and they are truly always a pleasure to photograph.

Roberta Zillman - Stacie,
I’m Diane Rothler’s mom. What wonderful pictures. You certainly captured their family spirit and love for each other. Beautiful. Also, thanks for the kind words.

Roberta

Hodges Family; Chicago Family Photographer

This post is near and dear to my heart, a few weeks back my nephew Bennett turned 6 months old!! We went to the Lincoln Park Zoo area and found some gorgeous blossoming trees. It turned out to be the only cold, wet and cloudy day that whole week but we didn’t let that stop us and got some really gorgeous portraits. I feel truly blessed to be living so close to my nephew and getting to see and experience his milestones. I might be biased but my brother and sister-in-law have the cutest little family and when Bennett smiles, it just absolutely melts my heart! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for these guys next!!

Stephanie + Tyler; Iowa City and Chicago Wedding Photographer

I truly couldn’t be any happier to share Stephanie and Tyler’s Wedding portraits! I feel blessed we have become friends over the course of this past year and they have one of the BEST stories about how they first met. Six years ago while still in High School, Stephanie went to a week long journalism workshop at The University of Iowa. She was standing in line at the soda machine when she realized she ran out of change. Instead of leaving, she turned around and asked the guy behind her if she could borrow a dime. Little did she know at that moment, she had just met her future husband, Tyler!!

A little over a year ago when I first met Stephanie and Tyler, I sent them a fun little questionnaire so I could get to know them better. A few things that really stick out in my mind about the two of them are their responses to a few questions. The first was “What makes you unique as a couple,” to which they responded “We are a Christian couple, and both have a very solid faith which is what grounds us and unites us, despite our differing personalities and traits.” The second was “What is the most important thing to you about your wedding day,” to which they responded “…the significance of the “two becoming one flesh” and to celebrate our marriage and love that will last a lifetime.” Witnessing their wedding, it was abundantly clear to me just how true both of these statements are and I am beyond honored to have been able to capture this spectacular moment in their life together.

Stephanie and Tyler, thank you for asking me to be your wedding photographer, I hope you enjoy these portraits for many years to come!!
