My husband and I have a lot of family in Iowa so we travel back often to visit. This last trip I was so excited because we took some updated portraits of my brother and his family! I might be biased but they are all SO stinkin cute and I’m in love with how much fun they all have together and how much love there is that goes around. I’m lucky and grateful to have such an awesome family. They were the very first people to hire me as a photographer and if it wern’t for them, I’m not sure my photography business would be in existence today! Thank you for believing in me and my work

During this session we had a little (BIG) scare as we realized my sister-in-law’s ENGAGEMENT ring was missing! If you’ve ever tried to look for a ring in a field of grass, you know it’s a little like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Luckily my brother happened upon it and the session could continue, but WHEW, adrenaline rush.

For their session we went to a local park and then ended with a few candid portraits playing around at home. It was sad to part ways at the end but we ended up with some great portraits and memories. Enjoy!

Roethler Family Portraits | Chicago Family Portrait Photographer

The Roethlers hold a very special place in my heart. They were one of the FIRST families who hired me as a photographer after their oldest was born and I’ve had the honor of documenting so many memories and milestones for them ever since. It makes me smile to know despite the fact I no longer live in Iowa City, I still get to photograph them!! I truly mean it when I say they are just some of the nicest and most kind people I know. It’s always a pleasure to photograph them and I LOVE how their portraits turned out. Their girls love playing dress up together so at the end of the session we took some fun, whimsical portraits capturing their love of dress up (too cute!).

Warth Family; Iowa City and Chicago Family Portrait Photographer

I probably say this about every session but it’s so true, I’m SUPER excited to share this cute little family portrait session! Some families just exude an air of happiness and fun and love about them and the Warth family is definitely one of those families. Their little guy just LOVED smiling for the camera and playing and even being smothered with love from his parents! This is also probably one of the most patient families I’ve ever worked with – we started planning their session in Iowa City back in December and after many failed attempts at scheduling, we finally got the day nailed down only to have a huge snowstorm hit the day before!! Luckily my husband and I were still able to make it in and I’m extremely glad it worked out. I’ve been super anxious for the Warth family to see their portraits and the day has finally come. Wright Family; Chicago Newborn Portrait Photographer

Newborns are SOO, soo precious and I love when I get a chance to capture these tiny moments in time. The Wright’s are so in love with their new little guy and it was such a pleasure to photograph them! My absolute favorite portrait is his tiny little feet in Dad’s hands, it’s capturing moments like that that make me feel SO blessed to be a photographer.

My Nephew turned 1 year old!! I can’t believe the time has flown by so quickly and I bet my brother and sister-in-law feel that way even more so! For his 1 year portraits, we braved the cold and went out to Northerly Island Park near the planetarium for some portraits by the gorgeous weeping willow trees and city skyline. The pictures are SO stinkin cute!

Thomas Family; Iowa City and Chicago Family Portrait Photographer

He’s arrived!!! A few months ago, I captured maternity portraits for my good friend Sehee and it’s a good thing we took them when we did because this little guy decided to arrive early!! I think he just couldn’t wait to meet his wonderful parent’s You can tell they are just smitten with him and it’s amazing to see friends grow beautifully into the role of parents. I was so excited to meet their new little Panada as they lovingly like to refer to him (so cute!) and I can’t wait to see and capture more of this little guy’s milestones in the future. Congratulations Thomas family!!

I might be biased however I think my newphew is the absolute CUTEST!! ..and his parents are pretty amazing too At the end of this past summer we got together to take his 9 month portraits at the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool. It was a gorgeous day and I not only had a blast taking the photos, but also editing them because I got to look at his adorable smile!! He’s such a little cutie. After the session we stopped for ice cream which was the perfect way to end our session. It’s pretty darn amazing to be a sister and an aunt and I’m SO lucky I get to document all these fun milestones for my family. Enjoy!

Dickey Family Portraits; Chicago Family Portrait Photographer

I really have the sweetest clients!! Every family has a unique sort of personality and what struck me about the Dickey family is how happy and easy going they are! It was adorable listening to the songs they sing their son and you can tell from the pictures, he is one loved and happy little guy.

For this session, we met somewhere that was near and dear to them, the University of Chicago! This was my first visit and it is one of the most gorgeous campuses I’ve seen. We unexpectedly came across several construction areas which made the campus a bit like a labyrinth however we managed to find our way back into this little area with a duck pond. I am told by the locals it is especially beautiful in the fall with all the ivy growing on the walls so I will definitely need to make a trip back.

Voropaeva Family Portraits; Iowa City and Chicago Family Portrait Photographer

The Voropaeva family is special to me for a few reasons. First, I work with their awesome mother, second, I’ve been fortunate enough to be taking their family portraits since their youngest was a toddler and third, they have ALWAYS been the kindest, sweetest, most warming and welcoming family. Not to mention fun too! I remember one of the first times I went to take portraits at their home, I left feeling like a family friend and I think that’s just one of the coolest things ever. I truly hope we have a lot more of these sessions in years to come!

For this session, we decided to meet at Coe College and despite the major storm that was about to hit at any moment and extremely HIGH humidity, we got some great portraits! At the end of the session we moved over to the tennis courts and I got to capture some pretty sweet tennis skills. Makes me wish I played tennis…almost!

Roethler Family

The Roethler’s were one of the first families I photographed when I was just starting my photography business. Back then, their oldest was just a baby and I can HARDLY believe how much has changed since then!! It’s been amazing to document their family over the past several years and how they’ve grown. When I moved to Chicago I thought it might be the end to our fun photo sessions but I was SO excited when they asked me to take this session on our trip back to Iowa a few weeks ago.

One thing that really stuck out to me about this particular session was the sisterly love these two girls share. During the middle of our session, the girls spontaneously started chasing each other around with fits of giggles and it was just about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen! You can tell there is just a lot of love to go around in this family and they are truly always a pleasure to photograph.
